Description
describe the object
Starting with a wheel thrown pot, Chuck Solberg manually altered his vase before firing the object in a wood fueled anagama kiln. The vase has an hourglass shape. The area a quarter of the way down from the top is sunk inwards. The base of the vase is circular and supported by four small feet. The body of the vase is brown. Patches of white glaze appear along the rim of the mouth, in the middle and on the base of the object. Solberg appears to have applied the white glaze to the top of the object and let it trickle down the vase.

The central figure wears a red hat (possibly a tarboosh). Five goats accompany the group. Underneath a clouded blue sky, a mountain range fills the background, separated from the figures by a body of still blue water.

Description
describe the object
In this painted landscape, George Morrison used layered brushstrokes, subdued colors, and textures to depict the shores of Lake Superior during the autumn season. The top third of the work is painted with gray and light blue pigment while the lower portion is covered with overlapping strokes of green, orange, purple, and blue. The painting is divided by a horizon line a third from the top.
Exhibition Label

Using layers of broken brushstrokes and subdued colors, Morrison captured the somber qualities of autumn in this small acrylic. Reserved and intimate, Autumn Dusk has the capacity to mesmerize the thoughtful viewer and poetically shows how Lake Superior can change from hour to hour and season to season.
