<text>Frank Big Bear's multi-panel collage consists of one hundred and forty-four 8 1/2 x 6 inch individual collages. He created each piece by pasting photographic paper on identical postcards from his son, Star Wallowing Bull's art exhibition at the Bockley Gallery in Minneapolis. The collages are arranged into a rectangular grid of 6 x 24 works. Within each college, the artist included images of the American Indian Movement (AIM) mixed with pictures of nature, consumer culture, and artwork from George Morrison, Fritz Shoulder, Edgar Heap of Birds, and more. The image depicted in one collage often continues onto the neighboring work, flowing from right to left. Each piece can be viewed individually or as a whole.</text>

<text>AIM and Art by Frank Big Bear is a stunning 144-piece collage that details the interweaving of the American Indian Movement with the vigor of contemporary Native American art. Using photographs from Dick Bancroft's recently published book We Are Still Here: A Photographic History of the American Indian Movement (Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2013), Duluth-native Big Bear creates a masterful journey into Indian protest and identity, shown through those who were part of the movement. Artworks by artists such as George Morrison, Fritz Scholder, Jim Denomie, and others are collaged over a postcard image by Big Bear's son, Star Wallowing Bull, whose 2006 drawing The Three Bears is a visual genealogy of the artist's family. Portraits cut and weave over the seams, and images of animals, rifles, verdant landscapes, and pop culture icons inhabit the flow.</text>
