This painting by James Jerome Hill features the artist's family at his home in Cassis, France. The two figures in the foreground are Hill's niece and nephew, Suzannah and Christopher. Suzannah is dressed in a white shirt and a red-stripped skirt. Behind her, Christopher is playing with a diabolo. He wears a pink shirt and kaki pants. In the middle ground, near the left edge of the painting, four figures and a dog appear to be resting next to a stone patio. The French landscape can be seen in the background, in the upper right corner of the work.
