<text>For over 30 years, Minnesota artist Tim Harding has created wearables and wall pieces that reference historical textile traditions and offer innovative techniques in fabric design. Unlike many wearable artists, Harding maintains a successful apparel production enterprise that does not impede his creation of one-of-a-kind studio fiber art pieces. In this stunning greatcoat, the realistic rendering of the movement of koi (Japanese ornamental carp) below the reflective blue water’s surface renders impressionistic images that are as changeable as the rich silks themselves. It is particularly symbolic that Harding chose to present the koi on the form of a Japanese kimono. <em>Koi</em> is one example of the strong textile collection found at the Minnesota Museum of American Art.</text>
